Default Qualifying

Well, it is surely going to suck. It's one thing dealing with the faster GT2 cars. At least they are both faster in a straight line and faster in the corners.

There appear to be a half dozen "Stock cars" running as Ta2 cars in GT2. They probably are not going to be faster than we are in the corners.

With 67 cars in the group, there will be no such thing as a clean lap for anyone.

Do we want to petition to have the Q session split up into seamless 10 minute single group sessions? (AS first of course)

Personally, this hurts me because I am not a one lap qualifier, but I still think 5 laps with just AS cars will be better then 8-10 laps in a traffic jam.

I'm all in for shortened AS only sessions.
Less chance for on track contact.
Most of us turn our fastest Qual lap in the first 5 anyway.
The only downside I see is that Indy is new to all of us and shortened sessions mean less time to learn the track.

67 big cars on a 2.6 mile track means a clean Qual lap will be hard to come by.

I would prefer to have the Monday and Tuesday sessions together, and split the last ones.
That let's us learn the track early, then work on competitiveness in the late sessions.
Of course, the weather has to cooperate.

I hope it doesn't rain the last two days of qualifying. I'm fine either way but I understand Mark's proposal, basically use the first two days more as practice.

I always liked the old way of having a practice day first, so that everyone, especially those who couldn't afford the time or money to test, had at least one day that didn't count.
