Congrats to Brannon, who got the finish at RA and is now qualified for the Runoffs.

New track record: 2:27.729. In case anybody is counting, that's about 3 seconds faster than last year's pre-aluminum head track record.

Looks like P1 for the Runoff might be 2.26:xx. Who would have thought that.

There are going to be some very fast times come the end of September.

Andy- Nice lap.

Thanks Wheeler. Nothing like the pressure of last minute planning. It was an 11.5 hour drive for me counting two stops for fuel and a quick snack. I thought I was flying out there until Andy disappeared after turn three on the first lap. Fred H and I had some really good side by side racing, position changes and drag racing down the straights. Those Fords sound amazing listening to them go down the straights but right beside you and 12" for your ear hole is painful. I knew I had 8 laps to get away before the tires were gone and the race was black flagged and called on lap 7. I was grateful to inherit 2nd (albeit 9 seconds a lap behind Andy), but Fred and I both knew a couple more laps and he was gonna get me. Great racing Fred though. He is a class act on the track. Congrats Andy. Nice to see Sharon West also! Can't wait till the big show.

Thanks for the kind words Chris. I really enjoyed it too. We don't get enough door to door time with anyone and it is really nice to race that way with you. Clean fast and fun. Good times for both of us! I think the last really close and fun racing like that I had was with Tom Toth. Same level of trust and fairness!

I look forward to seeing you at the runoffs.

Fred

The changes that have been made to the track are very nice and I expected everyone to be faster. I have been watch a variety of race series and their results at Road America and they too have been faster. I was expecting to run in the 2:34- 2:35 range and figured Andy would be doing 2:31's. I was wrong! I did not expect to see 2:27's on the grid sheet. I know he is the man at Road America and gives 110% everywhere he unloads the car......but Fred and I were not exactly short shifting and screwing around! haha. I plan on coming back in Sept for the big show with NOS and at 2500 lbs. Then maybe I can get a 4th or 5th place finish!

Don't say that too loud....next thing you know NOS will be up for member input. Hell all the kids with fart can exhausts are running it, it would drive the youth market into the club. Plus it will be a cost savings because the cars can burn less expensive pump gas. Then we will need big wings and Neon lights. Can we please run 18" wheels????

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Tom
