Default December 2013 Final Minutes and Tech Bulletin

The final December Minutes and Technical Bulletin are up on the SCCA website.

http://www.scca.com/about/?cid=44415

The Spec Mustang spec line has been removed from the Technical Bulletin and there is now a WDYT in the Minutes asking your opinion about a proposal to include them in AS.

I encourage all of you to read the proposal carefully and provide your comments through the CRB letter system at crbscca.com. Your letter will be the only official comments the CRB and ASAC will be considering. Anything you post on asedan.net will not be considered official.

The hope is to have a decision yay or nay in time for 1/1/2014, so I encourage writing your letters quickly.

Thanks for your support (yay or nay) on making this important decision for the future of AS.

Pam

Pam, are you sure they got that right? unless I am missing something the proposal is to allow most of their mods, including big brakes and wide tires AND reduce their minimum weight to 3250?? Your giving them a 225# weight reduction?? And letting them keep their ABS??

Are you sure this is the correct proposal?

Scott --

Yes, the proposal is correct.

Please send your comments and your vote yay or nay to crbscca.com.

Their weight has not been listed, but, currently, they are at 3475 according to the SMG rules. IF the proposal is approved, the CRB/ASAC would determine a weight.

Scott the proposal does not say they can keep their ABS. The proposal says that they will be allowed the same mods as the corresponding RP car, plus the ones listed.

Ford Mustang
Coupe GT
4.6L
(05-0910)
Restricted
Prep.
107.1 3.38, 2.00, 1.32,
1.00, 0.68
(F) 335
316/355
Vented
Disc
(R) 300
Vented
Disc
3250 Max. Wheel Size: 17 x 918 X 9.5. Stock brakes or alternate Ford 14” Brembo Brake (Ford
Racing Kit #M-2300-S) must be retained when using authorized wheels larger than 16 x
8. Installation of ASedan specification brakes requires the use of 16 x 8 wheels. Cold Air
Intake, Ford Racing Part M-9603-M463 is permitted. Replacement exhaust manifolds, or
“headers,” may be used. Cylinder head mounting flange(s) shall be no thicker than 0.375
inch, and tubing diameter shall be no greater than 1.625 inch O.D., measured at any tube
location one (1) inch from the flange to the collector.

The Spec Mustang would become a Restricted Preparation American Sedan car with a specification line similar to the above line,
with the following changes for the Spec Mustang only:

Rear coilover springs allowed.
Stoptech STR40 brake kit with 355 mm 2-piece rotors allowed.
Existing (no new builds) cars with Miller heritage (identifying numbers would be provided if this change is approved) would
be allowed the Ford part #8R3Z-7003-AC 6 speed transmission with the following gear ratios: 2.97, 1.78, 1.30, 1.00, .80, .63.
1.75” primary tube headers allowed.
18X10.5 maximum wheel size.
Maximum tire size 295.

The way I read the proposal "The Spec Mustang would become a Restricted Preparation American Sedan car" This means to me that they threw out the SMG rules and made them RP cars at 3250 and will allow some (or all) of their mods. Also how can we make an informed decision on this without Knowing their proposed weight if it is not 3250?

Scott,

It is a proposal and the weight is not what they will be like Pam said but you have the concept right. Send your letter please. Mention weight and whatever else you feel in it. Each letter means a lot.

Thanks!

Is it OK to discuss the details of this proposal with other users on this forum?

Maybe I am reading it wrong and need to be enlightened.

Maybe someone else will see another point of view.

Of course you can. Start a thread in the "American Sedan Rules" section.

Default Letters, Letters, Letters!

I strongly encourage again that you send in a letter for or against this proposal. So far, there are 7 on the website. Please send your letter in as soon as possible, as this needs to be decided before the end of the year. I see a lot of strong emotion one way or the other, this needs to be expressed on crbscca.com for it to be official.

The GTL guys sent in 100 letters to the CRB about their proposed consolidation. They felt VERY strongly about that as well. You are always welcome to post here, but, officially, what will be considered is what is on crbscca.com.

AS is your class and you have the opportunity to comment as you so succinctly asked for, so please send in a letter!!!!

Thanks, Pam

When is the deadline for letters to the CRB?
