Allison,
Excellent drive. Great work under the brakes. Really really good job respecting the yellow flag and the exposed workers. It's a shame you got caught out by some else running out of talent. To be sure, I run out of talent all the time, but I usually don't take out anyone else....... Scott |

My rear facing camera. Start at about 8:30 or so minutes in. Notice how I slowed for the yellow for Kevin and how much the 16 car came up on me. I also got into the marbles a bit, by changing my line to not buzz the site. The 16 made a bad move and Ally got caught up in it.

Maybe the 16 car got caught up in the dirt and lost control, doesn't look like he conciously moved over to hit the red car. These things suck but it's part of the deal. Now the proper speed going through a yellow area is always questionable.

The new GCR rule on yellow flags says, "Slow significantly and proceed through the incident at a reduced speed." for a standing yellow, and "Slow significantly and be prepared to stop. All efforts should be made to proceed through a Waving Yellow Flag in single file order. There is no passing from the flag until past the emergency incident."
As far as I could tell, I was the only one who did that. The top five cars went through that area at full chat and I never saw them until we all bunched up under the double yellow. |

Its always a challenge to judge a car coming back on track after a little off like that. I usually try to give them as wide a berth as possible. The driver coming back on track is usually fully focused on maintaining control and rejoining the race without loosing to much time (especially at the runoffs) and that can lead to a bit of tunnel vision. It can happen to the best of us, just sucks when you get caught up in it.
Hey did anyone notice, AS had 50% more cars at the runoffs than GT1, I think they only started 8. So I assume everyone made it thru Tech?? Why has that been so easy the last few years, just curious. Planning to make it to VIR next year, hoping for a big turnout. |

They were pretty thorough on the top 3 in tech. Danny can comment further on what they did. I knew, when there was Heinrocket, Drew and Danny, that they would all be compliant, knowing who built the cars and the integrity of those involved. There have been previous Runoffs when I was in 6th or 5th, whatever, where I knew I was going to move up before the top cars were even touched. LOL.

I know I'm missing a lot of things and this was for the third place. They did more on 1 and 2 then me. I know drew was the only one to drive out of tech. Us and heinracy towed.
Heads Carbs Brake size and material Ride height Air cleaner size Compression Intakes Weight Fuel During the week they did a lot more than they normally do also. We got pulled in twice. At one point they verified we didn't have a dog box in the car. Dean Bailey was brought in as the west coast expert and he did an amazing job all week working with the tech guys. I'm not positive but I don't think he can say much. Personally i appreciated everything he did! |
