Default Back in the day

This is going back. The year 1993. The track Heartland Park. The wall at 7 alpha. For those that remember HPT's short course, you ran down the dragstrip with a high speed left hander, a short straight, then a high speed left to brake for the "bus stop" as it was declared when the runoffs was there. Mark lost his brakes heading for the 2nd left hander before the "bus stop" spun and slammed the wall hard on the drivers side. Its one thing to move a wall nose in, its another to move wall with the side of the car. You can see the wall moved 4- 6 inches. Can you make out the brand of tire he was using. We know.

This was my 2nd SCCA club race I had ever been to crewing for the Nebraska region "whoomah" gang Frank Safranek, Tim White, and Mark Beacom. I believe Wheel was in this race. Might have been one of his first handful of AS races ever.

I'll let people guess on the brand of tire, it was much easier to read in person than in the picture. Man, he hit hard. Wheel commented on the dash in my current car and how I could break my leg in an accident, this is the reminder. BTW, I don't know if Wheel noticed the change I made based on his comment. To get to the point, Bubba's leg actually bent the clutch pedal 90 degrees to the left. While his leg didn't hurt after the accident, he felt it the next day.

Ted,
I was in the race, but it was one of the last races in the BMW in ITB. If it was the fall race, I won and set a track record that day.
Tim,
I am sorry to say I didn't look that closely at your interior, but I'm glad you fixed it.

To all,
Sit in your car and gently move your legs around to all sides, and up and down. If there are any sharp edges, aluminum sheets, etc. that you can even come close to touching, you will touch them in certain accidents. Same thing with your head, arms and shoulders. It is amazing how far you can move, even strapped down, in a 20 G side hit.

Nobody has guessed the tire yet. I can understand Kyle's guess. These were a pretty popular tire in the early 90's but then they quit making a R compound tire but they are back now.

I think the tires were Good Year Eagles. That was the hot setup on our AS cars out here in the San Francisco Region in the early to mid 1990's.

Danny, Danny, Danny, Its in front of your face

Also, you might turn your head and look at the sticker on your fender.

My first R comp tire for autocrossing. A set of 4. $320.00 in 92' 255/50/16
