Get rid of the stock floats and get some road racing floats. This is a must, if you intend to turn corners. Jets depend on how your motor is built, what altitude, barometric pressure, power valves, or blocked of p.v. holes, etc.

Jorge,

If you pull the carb apart, and flip the float bowl upside down, a good place to start (and one that should be a little low) is to set the float level so the top of the float (the flat part) is parallel to the top of the float bowl, then make it a little lower as a starting point.

As for jets, generally Holley jets their carbs a touch on the rich side out of the box, since we are running them pretty hard (higher rpm than the average street guy), and they are really properly sized for these size motors, the stock jetting should be pretty close. If you look on the air horn, you will see the number 4776-?. That is a 600 double pumper, and a revision level (the ?). I have the Holley book that says what jets and such were supposed to come with that exact carb. You can probably look it up on the web site, not sure. If you can't find it, either PM me with the number, or post it and I will pass on the info. You can't just say, "well my buddy uses 67 front jets, so I will too" It depends on the air bleed sizes, and a 4776-1 and a 4776-2 might have a different jet size, so it is best to start off with the factory calibration and work from there.

I have been meaning to get the right floats but no money to spare right now ...

I'll check what jets and such I have and go from there..

Wheel,

Can you point me in a good direction for the "road race floats". I can't seem to fine anything called that on the Holley site, they have some for circle track, but nothing that I can find specifcally for road race. Thanks in advance for any help.
